How to Get Started with Insurance Coverage for Nutrition Counseling
If you’re thinking about using insurance to cover nutrition counseling, we’ve got you covered! Here’s what you need to do:
- Complete our Nutrition Counseling New Client Online Form. Please have your insurance policy information and primary care physician details on hand.
- Email Insurance Card and ID: Please submit copies of both sides of your insurance card and driver’s license or state identification card to hello@betternutritionpartners.com. We will need this information to verify your insurance coverage for nutrition counseling sessions.
- Obtain a Referral: Some insurance plans require a referral from your healthcare provider for coverage. If your insurance plan requires a referral from your healthcare provider for coverage, we’ve got you covered. In most cases we reach out to your primary care physician for the referral. However, if you would like to request the referral yourself simply download and share our referral form with your physician. They can then fax the completed referral to (626)-380-0782, or you can conveniently email it to us at hello@betternutritionpartners.com.
- What happens next? Once we receive your Nutrition Counseling New Client Online Form and your insurance card and identification we will begin your insurance verification process for nutrition counseling and contact your physician’s office for a referral. After these steps are completed, we will reach out to you to schedule your first nutrition session.

What is the cost of nutritional counseling if your insurance doesn’t cover it?
If your insurance lists us as out-of-network or medical nutrition therapy is not covered, no worries! You’ll handle the session cost at the time of your appointment, and each session is priced at $179. Payment is easy—I accept debit cards as well as all major credit cards.
For added convenience, I’m delighted to provide you with a “Superbill” or detailed invoice for your records. Simply submit it to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. The amount you receive back depends on your policy, so I recommend reaching out to your insurance company’s member services line for all the details.
